Recognise the need for change

Education in South Africa is a protracted programme of university admission. What is the acme … the ultimate outcome … of our schooling system? It is obtaining a matriculation with university exemption.

We delude ourselves that all the world’s smart people work for universities. If you think that’s true, you’ve never been to university.

The fact that there are vast bodies of knowledge outside the higher academic institutions means the path to greater levels of intellectual attainment no longer runs exclusively through the universities.
